He was almost certainly Will Sniff that evening and wildin. It is not THAT critical although, to just take away a (extensive overdue) life time accomplishment.
Was he out of line? Indeed. Need to he have backed down and remaining afterward, when they questioned him to? Also, indeed. But probably he was on that white stuff and a raging bull, and men and women have manufactured even worse errors in their lives. It’s not THAT deep… like “take the Oscar back” deep… chill, Academy. Well… Thats just my feeling.
